About Empty Bowls | The San Antonio Potters Guild, in association with the San Antonio Glass Arts Guild, Alamo Woodturners Association, the Southwest School of Art, and SAMMinistries presents the annual Empty Bowls fundraiser for SAMMinistries at the Southwest School of Art. SAMMinistries prevents homelessness in San Antonio through a compassionate, holistic approach that brings self-sufficiency, pride and dignity to struggling families with nowhere else to turn. Guild members produce the handmade bowls sold for a nominal fee. Soup is provided by local restaurants and caterers and served by culinary students and volunteers. Also featured is a silent auction of donated works by artists in a variety of media. |
Empty Bowls 2022 | Empty Bowls will be held this year, but SAMM Ministries has asked us to wait until November to hold our Empty Bowl sales event. Although the specific date and venue have not been set yet, we are still making plans to be ready to go when we get the notice to move ahead. Community Bowl-a-Thons - We do not have any community bowl-a-thons scheduled at this time, but we are having conversations with community clay studios and hope to plan some for later this year. At Home Bowl-a-Thons - We do have support for folks that are interested in making 2-pound bowls for Empty Bowls in their home studio.
